Captain vs President

Wonderful spring morning for this annual event played competitively but in good humour.  Even though the President, Barry Megson and his partner Dan Wood lost their match to Captain Geoff Young and Iain Lorraine, The President's team managed to squeeze a victory of 6 1/2 - 5 1/2.

"MIXED MUFTI"

There were lots smiley faces to be seen at the mixed mufti 3BBB.  On a cool day we had a team of sun seekers, two Doctors and a male nurse to treat their hypothermia, A team of cooks to administer some warming broth, and then,  Hugh Hefner and a couple of his "bunnies" got in on the act along with a horned beast and some very odd hair styles.  The Overall winners with a fantastic score of 86 were the "medics" M&G Shepherd & Warren Sanders.  Best Mixed Richard Greenhalgh, Rob Metherall & Pauline Bezzant 76pts.  2nd Trevor & Sue Watters & Brian Adams 76pts.  Best Mens team 1st J. Shepherd, S. Martin & S. Moore 77pts.  2nd  were the Baker family, Andrew, George & Sol with 76pts.

Mixed Winter League- Final

There was a good turn out for the final round.  The overall points table was very tight with just one point separating the leaders.  The winners on the day, of a 3BBB, were Margaret Slinger, Brian Adams and Trevor Watters with 81pts.  2nd Bob Davies, Reg Daniel and Ely Walmsley 78pts. 3rd Steve Kiff, Richard Greenhalgh and Pauline Bezzant 77pts.

Over all winners were for the men.  1st Reg Daniel 30pts.  2nd Alan Abrams 26pts.  3rd Trevor Watters 25pts. 4th Brian Adams 24pts..  In the ladies, 1st place went to Pauline Bezzant 31pts.  2nd Margaret Slinger 27pts.  3rd Gwen Adams 27pts.  4th Barbara Abrams 19pts.

Rules of Golf Quiz.  The club house was buzzing with eager participants last Friday night for the revival of the Rules of Golf quiz, hosted by James Rowland, who succeeded in making what looked to some like a daunting evening of searching questions into a most informative and amusing evening.  He was ably assisted by David Smith.  45 members took part split into teams of 5, each chaired by an officer of the club.  Club treasurer, Chris Woolley, Alan & Lesley Richardson, George Booth and Geoff Paul came 1^st  with a score of 44pts, taking the Rules of Golf shield.  Taking 2^nd place was The President Barry Megson, Reg Daniel, Des Best, Tony Moore and Ray Holness with 42pts.  3^rd place went to The Professional Dan Wood, Alex Lock, Ross Daniel, Simon Moore and Matt Ford with 40pts.
