H.G.C. “GREENS REPORT”:   20.04.12

BASIS:

The basis of the ongoing programme will continue to be that as recommended by our Advisor, Jeff Yelland, following his report to the Club last year. This was initiated in 2011 under Rob Moore and the work undertaken since following those detailed recommendations is currently bearing fruit, and will be continued.

CURRENT ACTIVITY:

Coring has taken place. Fertiliser has been applied and re-sanding. Several paths have been restored by using tarmac scraping (“The Boys from the Blackstuff” will have been in evidence!). Additional paths will be treated a.s.a.p.

FUTURE ACTIVITY:

Rolling, spraying for Leather Jackets, Ditches to be cleared and cleaned where necessary. Tempy Winter Greens:   definition will be improved – “Lift & Drop” off of all Winter Greens please! Solid tining on Greens will be carried out in the immediate future: this involves thin tining of the surface. Divot-Mix containers: have been put out for a 3-week period and will be sequentially moved within the 3-week period. Please assist by taking one with you!

FAIRWAYS:

If you’ve struck the ball correctly, you will have made a divot. Please replace it before moving on! On some tees there are divot-mix boxes, please use the contents!

PITCHMARKS:

If YOU have made one, please repair it + at least 2 others if you spot them!

COMMUNICATION:

It is the intention to continuously up-date a brief resume of immediate and future activity on the Course for all Members & Visitors’ information. This will be displayed on each of the three Sections’ NB.’s (Club, Vets & Ladies) + a copy on the Greenkeepers’ Board approaching 1st Tee + our Club Website.

STAFFING:

H.G.C. has a major opportunity to improve the Course this Summer due to the return of Anthony and the ‘work-experience’ of young Mr. Baker, all of them under the leadership of Kevin our Head Greenkeeper.

HOW CAN YOU ASSIST?

You, as a Member or Visitor, play H.G.C. Would you please be kind enough to assist us by picking up your broken tee peg or any litter you see around the Course and putting either in the waste bins on various tees. Thanks!

If you have an observation, recommendation or comment you feel would improve YOUR course, then please pass it on to me (but please do not bend the “Greenkeepers’ ears!)   Within budget, we will achieve as much as possible.
