Hello Members

I may have been a little optimistic in my last message in saying that it looked like spring had arrived but it is gradually warming up and the course is looking in good nick ready for the season ahead. For those of you that don't know our maintenance and improvement plan has suffered a bit of a setback because Kevin Piper ruptured his quadriceps tendon (that's the big muscle at the front of the thigh) and so will be out of action for at least two months. It took over two hours of surgery to put him back together so I'm sure we all wish him well.

All of our various competitions are now underway and we have had a few club matches to report as well. Captain v President day went down to the wire with the president's side winning on the last match. It was a great day and a lot of fun and I'm not bitter about losing at all (honest!).

We narrowly lost to Libbaton in the Parker cup played at Royal North Devon - the match finishing 2 - 1.

The first North Devon League match of the season was played at Saunton in very tough conditions. The top score of the day was 32 points and we ended up a creditable 3rd so well played all.

The first leg of the Triangle match was played at home. We ended up with 140 points with Bude on 136 but the winners by far on the day were Launceston with 151 points. The next round is on 19th May at Bude so we'll have to pull our finger out to do a bit of catching up.

We had a bye through the first leg of the Palairet and the first round of the Rosebowl was postponed due to bad weather so there's not much to report there yet.

The first round of the Vets club championship is coming up on 24th May and on 26th we've got Pyworthy v The Rest Of The World so make sure to get your name up on the board for those.
