Caroline and Jo would like to welcome you to The Oak Tree Restaurant which incorporates the clubhouse, bar and restaurant area at Holsworthy Golf Club.
Since our arrival here on 1st December we have been thrilled with the support of the club and its members, and also the rising number of non-members which now frequent us for coffee and homemade cakes, bar snacks and Sunday lunches, or that extra special occasion.
Caroline, the chef of the duo, has nearly 20 years experience in the catering industry, having worked at local hostelries. Jo has 15 years experience managing Front of House and bar both locally, in Australia and Surrey. Both being local girls, they have now returned to their roots.
On a day-to-day basis there is a varied selection of snacks and meals from our reasonably priced bar menu, from light bites to steaks, as well as a constantly changing specials board to tempt you.
Come and enjoy Caroline’s Sunday lunch which has proved popular with regulars every week. Everything is home made from starters, to Yorkshires to pudd’s. We would strongly advise you to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Dear Members Well we have arrived at the end of July and what a month rain ,rain and more rain with a few exceptions,! two sayings come to mind "the devil looks after his own " and "the sun shines on the righteous" I am not sure which applies to me (or Yvonne ) but the sun shone on 25th July our Captains day .We had great support from our members who hopefully enjoyed a game of golf ,B.B.Q ,photos and a video of their swing on the first tee, so thank you to every one who helped in any way in making the day such a success .Congratulations to George Booth in winning the mens competition ,Barbara Abrams the ladies and Jake Cartwright the juniors . The next important date on the Captains calender is September 20th, Captains Charity Challenge, this is a new competition which is to be played annually, its aim is to raise funds for Captains charities and for the club. The trophy has been donated by 2009 captains and will be awarded to the player with the most stableford points who has raised the most money in the competition. To enter, you need up to 10 sponsors ,each sponsoring you for 10p per point, the more sponsors you have the better chance you have of winning the trophy .The point of having a maxium of 10 sponsors is to try to give everyone the chance to win by playing their best golf, sponsor forms are on the notice board in the club house .Money is to be handed in on the day . November 27th Presentation evening and dinner with entertainment at the club house £20 per ticket which can be brought behind the bar, please support this event , black tie optional . |

LADY CAPTAINS report OCT 2009 Early in September the Captains Away Day was held at Stover Golf Club, the weather was glorious, and the ladies section provided a coach to take us to the venue. After the game we sat down to a two course dinner and everyone seemed to enjoy the day.I would like to thank Brian Adams for driving so safely and the four gentlemen, who unpacked and packed for us all. The ladies of Holsworthy have performed well in County matches this month.Carole Baker,Ely Walmsley and Julie Ellis came third in the County Bowmaker at Crediton and Glenys Mead and Yvonne Bowler came second in the Bronze Warren Crocus. Also, the ladies managed third place in the Roserrow Bronze Challenge, held this month for the last time.Well done to Pauline ,Sue G ,Sue W, Gwen,Yvonne and Betty. ,In September, two new events were added to the club's list of matches. The Generation Game played in teams of four including one each a junior, vet, man and lady. This is a purely fun event and was well received by all those taking part.On the 20thSeptember the Three CaptainsCharity Challenge was held in the form of a sponsored match and the entry managed a superb £1,700 for the charities.A total of £1400 was allocated to the club's drainage scheme and £300 came to the Ladies charity.

Junior Coaching will take place before the junior competitions. This will start at 8:30am for an hour with the first competition time starting at 9:38am. Its is a requirment that any juniors who want to compete in competitions will have to attend the coaching sessions before it starts. This is to improve the standard of junior golf at Holsworthy Golf Club. The cost of the coaching will be £2.00 per session.
The Junior notice board has moved to a more accessible place and there will now be entry sheets for at least 3 weeks in advance for junior golfers to enter weekend competitions rather than just turning up.
